Frequently Asked Questions

There are always enough guests throughout the year to join your dog in a fun group. Our guests celebrate their holidays 24 hours a day in their pack, so they are never alone.

Dogs that come together, are never separated without consultation with you. If they like it and are social, we will find a few more suitable friends to celebrate their holiday with.

Male dogs do not have to be neutered to stay with us.

It may be the case that if, for example, a male dog is too dominant and/or is humping too much, the dog must be castrated for a possible next holiday. A castration does not always give a 100% guarantee that the behavior will change. A trial period must then be planned in order to be able to assess whether a next holiday in our hotel is possible.

During check in we first take a look at the vaccinations of your pet. Then we discuss everything regarding your wishes and any special details of your pet. We also go through all the details, such as your telephone number, etc.

Then a caretaker will take your dog and accompany him/her in a suitable pack. For the peace of other guests, but especially to make it easier for your dog to say goodbye, you do not walk with your dog to the dog hotel. You can no longer see your dog, this may be annoying for some people but it serves the interests of your dog and the other guests.

In some cases we want to have a new guest on a trial basis to see if we can also give this guest a nice holiday. Some owners also find it nice to have a trial period for their dog first and that is of course no problem.

One day is often just too short for this and we therefore advise you to bring your dog the first day in the morning and pick him/her up the next morning or afternoon.

In the weekends it is always a bit more crowded for the guests due to changes in the packs. A trial period on Saturday and Sunday is therefore not sensible. Furthermore, this is always possible outside the school holidays. To make a reservation for a trial period, we ask you to fill in the reservation form on our website.

We want to offer every guest a nice holiday by making a suitable pack with each guest to celebrate the holiday with. A guest should therefore be social with other dogs.

We are open all year round and have enough guests and packs so that we can offer every guest, provided he/she is social, a fun and appropriate pack. The school holidays are always fully booked quickly. In particular, the high season of the summer holidays and New Year’s Eve is always booked very quickly. We no longer take new customers for this period or accept guests who only want to use one of the periods.

No, it is possible from one day to a few months. We aim to give every guest a nice holiday, if we are unsure whether we can offer a particular guest a nice holiday, we first plan a trial period.

Only for the high season in the summer holidays we have a minimum stay of 14 days. This is because the summer holiday is a long holiday and we do not want too many changes in the packs for the peace of our guests.

Our guests celebrate their holidays 24 hours a day in a suitable pack. Every guest who comes to our hotel will be placed in a nice and suitable pack. In that way they all have a nice holiday together. When we form a pack we look, for example, at the character, size, age and male/female so that they get along well and have a good time. We always keep a close eye on the packs and if things are not going well, we will adjust the pack composition. The number of dogs per pack is on average five dogs, but is also adapted to what suits your dog in terms of character and age.

We offer them a fixed daily schedule. At 8:00 they can go outside, around 9:00 the guests get their food. We always stay in the pack during feeding, so that each guest eats his/her own food and no more or less. From 12:30 they go inside with their pack to enjoy their much needed rest in their indoor residence. At 17:00 the door opens again until 19:30. Around 17:30 it’s time to eat again. The door to their inside room is always open so they can each decide if they want to go in or out.

Yes, this is also recommended because our guests celebrate their holidays in a pack with other dogs 24 hours a day. At the reservation you can indicate whether your dog should be washed. The rate for washing depends on the size of your dog.

We keep the dogs in suitable groups/packs and therefore have large indoor and outdoor accommodations. Unfortunately, it is not possible to bring your dog during holiday periods.

Outside the holiday periods it is possible, but not for a long period. In our opinion a dog alone (not in a group/pack) can not really have a nice holiday.

Provided your puppy is fully vaccinated, your puppy is very welcome with us because a puppy is still in the socialization period and basically likes everything. Your puppy can have a great time and learns to be social towards peers in a playful manner. Your dog will remember the hotel for the rest of its life as a nice holiday address!

In terms of age and vaccinations, a puppy can come on holiday 14 days after the last vaccinations. If the vaccinations are on schedule, that is at 14 weeks.

Because our guests celebrate their holiday in a pack, it is impossible for us to accomodate a female dog in heat. For a period outside a schoolholiday please contact us if there are possibilities.

Note: If your dog suddenly comes into heat and for that reason cannot come during a school holiday, the normal cancellation scheme remains in force.

We have a special form in which you can indicate exactly when and whom we should contact. You do not have to fill in this form, but if you do not use this form, Pet Hotel Marijke will decide when and whom we contact. (you only have to fill in this form once, because we save this for a possible next stay. If you want to change the information you provided, you can fill in a new form and we will save it again) Click HERE for the form.

When we go to the vet:

If your own vet has the opportunity and is not too far away from us, we will go to your own vet. If for some reason this is not possible, we will go to the “de Limes” in Harmelen, Woerden or Vleuten.

Costs vet visit

The costs of the vet consultation are for your account, as well as the starting fee of 46 euros which we charge for this.

This start rate includes costs such as:

  • Contacting the owner before we go to the vet.
  • The kilometer mileage for the car, up to a maximum of 25 kilometers in total. *
  • The time we spend on the vet visit with a maximum of one hour from departure to return. *
  • Make a report of our findings, the findings of the vet, the follow-up of the treatment(s)
  • Making a treatment plan and/or checklist (s) for medication.
  • Notifying you of the vet’s findings.

* For extra kilometers we charge 20 cents per km. and for extra time 35.00 euros per hour.

If you have choosen the medifonds in your reservation and the health complaints fall under the medifonds, the costs of the vet and the aforementioned costs of the vet visit are for the account of Pet Hotel Marijke.

It is not a problem for us when your dog needs medication.

We prefer to have the medication in the original packaging and make our own schedule and check list during the holidays.

If a pet uses medicines and/or (nutritional) supplements, we only ask a small contribution for the medical costs of 1.00 euro per day.

We always give you the leash and collar back home. We don’t need it during the stay. In this way nothing gets lost.

Of course you can bring your dog a blanket of his own. Because we place the dogs in groups, there is a big chance that this blanket does not survive the stay. Partly because of this, but also because of hygiene reasons we never return the blankets. We have enough blankets ourselves for our guests.

Due to possible damage to your belongings, we do not want your dog to bring his own basket. We have good plastic baskets for your dog.

Yes, you must bring the vaccination book with every stay. We always want to check the vaccinations and are obliged to have proof of vaccinations.

We aim to give every guest a nice holiday, we achieve this in particular by making a suitable pack with each guest. In our opinion and experience, some breeds are often less suitable for this or do not like it. Many owners also indicate that they do not want their dog with these breeds, this wish is of course respected. We often do not have pack companions for these dogs.

Breeds that we unfortunately no longer accept for these reasons are for example:
Sharpei, Bullmastiff, Bull terriër, Pitbull terriër, Stafford, Chow Chow, Cane corso, Akita, Shiba inu, Argentinian dog, Bordeauxdog, American Bulldog en English bulldog. For the whole list click HERE

Normally we feed the dogs twice a day, but, if necessary, three times is also possible.

Usually we feed the dogs in the pack. Each guest gets his/her own bowl. We always stay in the pack during feeding so that we can see how much each guest eats. Also some guests are protective of their food, in this way we can ensure that they do not get into disagreement.

Our guests get dry food from the top brands such as Technical, Enjoy and Naf-Naf.

If you prefer to bring your own food, this is not a problem, but it is subject to a few conditions:

  • No glass containers and also no measuring cups of glass.
  • Always bring some extra food. Often a guest needs more food while staying with us or in case of an extended stay. What’s left can be taken home.
  • Frozen food is also not a problem, but the first meal should be defrosted. For giving frozen food we ask for a small fee, see price list.

Our guests eat with the food bowl on the floor. If your dog is used to eat from a platform, you should take this with you.

We prefer to give our own food and   give no discount if you bring your own food. It is an extra service when we give your dog his/her own food.
